Buy electric shaver

So you like money, but you also want to keep or even improve your everyday lifestyle. I know the feeling and sharing my ideas and tips with you to save and make us all some money! Well here is a small investment that will pay for itself over a relatively short period of time.Buy your own hair shaver / clippers. As simple as that .. well not quite but almost.

This is a simple but effective tip, you wont need to go to the barbers again! Saving yourself a few bucks every month. I don't know much about which brand you should go for, but personally i have a Remington hair clippers which works perfectly. This post is quite similar to the electronic razor post, but we are talking about your hair on your head, not on your face or legs!

Anyway, the one trick here is knowing what haircut you want, and being able to cut successfully yourself (or perhaps with the aid of a friend or family member). My haircut is a “2 all over” which is reasonably easy to do, I just try my best to imitate what the barber did , but “tidying up” my hair after the 2 can be tricky, such as at the neck and temples , I generally want those areas trimmed down shorter than a 2 , so my hair does not look roughly cut, but nice and shaped, and professional , as if a barber did it. I get a family member to do those tricky parts, and this little tip is great to know and practice.

This can be especially handy if you have children who have a simple haircut, and with practice you can do more elaborate ones. I'm afraid this tip is a little less suited to most women... although if you have a loving partner tell him (/her) to learn to cut your own hair!... a real way to test a relationships trust :-)

So my advice in summary , go out to your shop, buy a hair shaver ( a great deal can be easily found) and get cutting, and with experience comes better results. Well , 'nuff said , and as i always say, comment and add to this blog in any way you can, Oh, and stay in school...!

Buy and Sell

Posted on Friday, September 25, 2009

We all like to earn cash, but it's great to have some extra money on the side which doesn't require a lot of effort. Well there are many ways to accomplish this, which I will get to in future blog entries, but for now here is one money making tip that will get you on your way! You wont be getting rich from this one unless you work quite hard at it, but it is possible to get up to and above 100$ a week, I know from experience. Heck, I made 130euro once from about 2 hours work. Now that's what I call easy money.

First, be sure to read my guide to buying second hand items. Now find out local buy and sell websites or magazines in your area. (for this article I'm sticking to face to face buying and selling, not online selling.... perhaps you'll see that in a future post!) If your in Ireland(like myself), I suggest adverts, gumtree, buyandsell . In UK I suggest buyandsell, and for most places I suggest gumtree and craigslist. Google to find as many as these buy and sell sites as you can. I recommend keeping it to 3 or 4 so it's easy to keep track of things.

Now you have those resources, look through the categories in them.Chances are you'll find electronics, furniture, cars, clothes, books, many others. Chances are also that one of these categories will suit you better than the rest. Books might be your thing, but it's not for me. Likewise , electronics is for me, but not for everyone. Anyway, decide your favorite ,what interests you, what you own. If your stuck , I suggest electronics(mainly because it's all I know and you can get the hang of it fast!) . You can even pick a subcategory like laptops, games consoles, mobile phones, or whatever tickles your fancy. I go for any electronics but not big bulky PCs etc.

Well now all you need to do is to buy and sell. Simple? No. It fluctuates like the stock market and you really need to keep track on things for you to make a profit from this money making tip. I'm gonna stick with talking about electronics for now, but other categories can work, I'll describe later.

First I suggest for 2 or 3 weeks , every day, just look at your 3 or 4 sites everyday, go through all items in your category and get a feel for the price of items. I am in the euro zone , so not certain about what its like in the US , but for example, in my country, a PSP second hand should be 75euro , a low spec netbook should be 100 – 120 euro, medium 150euro , high spec 200- 250 euro. An iphone 3g unlocked 8 gig should be 230euro. Old low spec laptop should be under 100euro. And so on. You get the idea. After carrying out this tip”part time” for several months, i get a feel for what price an item should be.

Key tip: depreciation. Don't forget that when apple brought out the iphone 3g s , the price of iphone 3g dropped a bit (second hand we're talking) . This goes for everything. The older something becomes, the less it's worth , and this is very impoprtant to remember.

So when you have a feel for the market and prices and popularity of items, it's time you take action. If you see a PSP going for 50 euro, buy it. It normally sells for 75 euro. Meet the seller, follow my tips on buying second hand , and if your happy with the item, purchase it.

So now read my guide to selling items online here. Upload ads for this PSP on your 3 or 4 sites, and wait. Chances are good that you will make profit on this PSP. Its not much, maybe 20 $ , but it's something. And do this enough times, and all of a sudden you notice the extra cash!

Key tip: Don't buy for the sake of it, make sure you are buying below normal 2nd hand price.

So there is your first little profit. I used PSP as an example, but obviously you can do it with almost anything!

Key tip: Buy something that interests you, because you may be unlucky and end up stuck with it

That's important info. Buy the item as if your buying it for yourself. It happens to me sometimes that I find it hard to offload an item. So i buy something I don't mind having myself, like a PSP!

Here is an elaboration on my 130 euro profit in just a few hours. An acquaintance of mine(who I first met on buyandsell) repairs laptops, and sometimes has cheap ones going. I saw his ad for a high spec dell inspirion laptop, as new, I mailed him, and he sold it to me for just 320euro. I knew in my head that my girlfriend was on the market for a laptop, so if i was left for it, no biggy, my girlfriend would have been delighted to get this at that price.! But I decided to put an ad for it. Started the asking price an 500euro , but I had patience and let it go for 450 euro. That's 130 euro for very little work. Sweet. Super sweet..!

I do this every now and then, on average about once every 2.5 weeks. Laptops, netbooks, ipods, games consoles, mobile phones... consider this to be part time , on the side sort of extra cash if you know what I mean. A friend of mine does this pretty much full time. Like a few items a week. He is making a nice bit of money from this. He mainly sticks with mobile phones.

A friend of a friend started doing this with cars, started off buying a crock for under a grand, sold it making a small profit, did this again and again, buying better and better cars along the way, now he is just finished college ( about 23 yrs old) and is driving a Mercedes Benz. Not bad at all! But the recession has really hit the car industry, first and second hand so I don't know if i recommend trying it with cars.

Key tip: keep within your finances.

Don't just buy a high spec laptop for 1000 hoping to sell it for 1500 , unless you can take a hit like that. My advice is start small, and grow a bit, but not much. I stick under 500euro. Would never go above it because if I couldn't offload it, or if i dropped and broke it , or something bad happened, 500 euro loss would hurt me. That's why I keep it small (normally under 200 euro , although sometimes above).

Well its up to you now, go out there test the water of your preferred catagory, and go in for the kill! I wish you the very best of luck with this money maker, if you have any suggestion or questions comment or email away, and upcoming in future posts, how to make even more money from PSP , another way to make money from psp, now to get more money from xbox 360 , more cash for laptops and other useful hints to ad to your cash generating skills. Have a nice day, and remember , look both ways when crossing a street..! Thanks for reading

Unsubscribe to Magazines

Posted on Wednesday, September 23, 2009

I find the most effective ways to save money are from avoiding the regular expenses, like for example the cost of shaving, I previously mentioned how to save money here on that subject. But there are many ways to cut down every day or every week spending. And here is just one more simple money making idea.

Unsubscribe to magazines. Simple as that. If its in a magazine, then its on the net, heck, probably before it reached the printing press! We all like different things, celebrities, home and furniture, technology, and I will say there are many great magazines out there. But if you have an internet connection, then you don't need them!

Google your favorite topic you follow with magazines, and I'm certain you will find many websites on the same topic. Bookmark them , and keep an eye on them , every morning, every week ... when ever you want! If you find a nice blog you want to follow ( like this great money saving blog :-) you can subscribe to RSS feeds you will notice the icon for it on most blogs. This way you are informed when new posts and articles appear on the site.

You'll be as up to date as possible this way, and you won't be seeing a bill from the magazine companies any more. You'll have information as it is released, whether your interested in the new iphone 3G S VI Xturbo diesel lite , or Katie Price's boob cup. That was unnecessary. I should not have said boob.... that topic is so last year but i'm not down with celebs so that's the best example i can do. If you have a better one , comment it and I'll include it. All of them !

Thanks for reading yet another practical money saving hint to make your cash go farther! And remember , don't stare at boobs. Peace.

Never Throw out!

Posted on Tuesday, September 22, 2009

One thing I never do is throw something out. And if you are one to throw old unwanted things in the bin – have a rethink, and you might get yourself some extra cash if you follow my advice!

My old mobile phone, my old school books, old PC games I don't play anymore. All pretty useless to me, but instead of throwing them out, I try to make some extra money selling them! Once the book is still readable, once the PC games work, and once the phone turns on, there is a good chance there is some money to be made with them.

First off read my ComfyMoney tips to selling items on the internet. So now you know what you need to know.. Simply clean up the items as best as possible, locate box, accessories, instructions, whatever you can to make it as excellent as possible!

Stick to the guide to selling online local listings and be honest about the item, put it at a good price – I mean good for the buyer so it will go fast.

And if your successful – wallah! Money for something you were just going to throw! If you were unsuccessful, drop by a charity shop and donate it, or put it up in the freebies section or as a lost resort – throw it in the bin.

Money isn't everything, but it is nice to have – especially when it requires very little work , and that’s why this money saving advice is great! If you have a garage full of stuff you need getting rid of, have a jumble sale / car boot sale / whatever you call them.

So there you are, a small useful tip. Hope this helps fill up your piggy bank, comment if it did, comment if it didn't or comment if you just don't care about my advice, and remember , what happens in Vegas , stays in Vegas! Peace out ComfyMoney fans (^-^)....!

Save Your Change

Well a simple piece of advice to help you manage your finances. I'm in the euro zone so I am not very experienced with the American currency. I know you use dollars over there, that's about the height of my knowledge, something about nickles and dimes and quarters. That's just confusing...! Here we keep things simple. Euro and cent. 100 cent being 1 euro. Nice and easy unlike your semi dime quarter-back crap you have going on in the US! Only joking....!

But I'm actually serious. But anyway, I'm sure this tip is translatable to American money, but I'll be concentrating on euro.

I don't know about you but at the end of a day working and purchasing, I'm left with a handful of change, and sometimes you want to just get rid of it all. Or sometimes you might want to leave the shop without getting your 10cent change. Well save all the coins you can, pick 'em up off the street! And get yourself a nice big bowl from your kitchen. And dump the coins in there. And keep doing that anytime you find you've got a bunch of coins in your pocket or purse.

And the day when that bowl is overflowing, is a good day my friend. Head down to your local bank and they should be able to supply you free of charge with little plastic bags. You fill the bags with the right amount of coins, and bring them back to the bank and you'll get a nice bundle of notes!

Normally they accept 1euro in 1 cents, 2 euro in 2 cents, 5euro in 5 cents, 10 euro in 10ccents, 10euro in 20cents, 50 euro in 50 cents, 1euro, or 2 euro. I think...

So there you are, that this lesson done, hoard your coins! I realize its not a way to earn money or technically save money, its really just converting money, but you know what, to me it feels like saving money. Those itsy bitsy coins are useless to me, and wouldn't even bother counting them as viable money. But just keep them and after 2 or 3 months you get some decent notes from the bank... well it just seems like bonus money to me :-)

So here we are at the end of the article, leave a comment, tell a story, interconnect with me and with all, but most importantly, save your virginity for your marriage night. Thanks for reading!

Buy electric razor

So whats this you say? You're trying to save money, not spend it on some expensive electronic razor!! Don't worry, you'll see how it makes sense. Some of the best ways to save money is to cut a bit off our everyday essentials spending bill. Well here is a great tip to save some more!

You know what is ridiculous? The price of the latest Gillette razor and cream. Quite frankly its one of the little things on this planet that annoy me a lot. Well you won't have to worry about those big prices for much linger if you take action and follow this bit of advice.

My experience with electric razors has been good so far, I've only owned one for about 2 years, never let me down, shaves just as well as a normal wet shave , heck , its faster! and another benefit - you don't have to worry about cutting your skin.

I am the proud owner of a Remington R3 Titanium series You can see it in the picture. It was low – mid range when I bought it about 2 years ago for about 60 euro (~85 USD). Remington seem to be a big player in this industry , and I can see why they are kept in business, their products are reliable, well built and do exactly what you expect them to do.

Lets do a quick calculation, before i got this electric razor, i would wet shave about every 2 days. My memory is a bit hazy but i guess i spent about 5euro every 2-3months on a can of shaving gel, not even the best brand or product, a mid range one) and Would need a razor refill pack which i guess would have cost something like 15euro per 2 months. I'm just averaging it out, because sometimes i bought fancy expensive razors, sometimes dirt cheap ones. That works out at about 22.50euro per 2 months, = 11 euro per month. Now if i was to do this for the last 2 yrs, that would me 2 x 12 x 11 = 264euro. That a good bit of money in my eyes, and money I'd like to save... which thankfully i did!

Instead of 264 euro to shave for 2 yrs, i spend just 60 euro , that's less than 25% the price of wet shaving!

Needless to say , the money saving advice from this article, if buy yourself an electric shaver right now! What are you waiting for, seriously? I recommend Remington but i know there are many other brands also worthy of your money, I'm just saying I had no problems with my Remington!

I'm sure women can also save just as much if they use electric razors instead of the wet shave on their legs and underarm and where ever else they shave :-o But seriously, everyone who shaves anything, this is a great piece of advice that will save you real money.

As i always say, comment, join me on networking sites, and check out the rest of advice on this site to save yourself a lot of money.

MartinGale - A Roulette Strategy

This is more of a light hearted tip, not to be taken too seriously, I don't even recommend you try it out, but I'm just posting it in case some one wants to read out of interest!

Roulette is designed so the house”casino” will win. Always, but on average. Some people will win when playing roulette, but on average , the people loose, the casino wins. Especially when it comes to computer roulette. There are a few ways to actually win at roulette, and I mean win..! not some bogus strategy like the one I'm about to explain, but real proven methods. I might discuss them in the future!

Back to this post. As you may or not know, when playing roulette, you bet on the outcome of the ball rolling on the numbers, you can bet even or odd, black or red, high or low, and many other bets. If you bet on the ones i mentioned, you will double you money, however, if you loose, you loose that money you bet! Sound fair? Well it would be, except for the fact that 0 exists. And sometimes even 00 exists, 0 and 00 are neither red nor black, nor odd nor even nor high nor low. So yeah those segments on the disc really suck! Well now that that brief intro is over , here is the martingale method, followed by optimization for the martingale method.

So you have 100 dollars. Choose one of the 6 bets i have mentioned (red / black / high / low etc.) Lets say you chose red. Bet 1 dollar on red.

If you win, change color and start again, if you loose, double your bet on the same color. Example:

1$ on red. You win. Bet 1$ on black. You loose. Bet 2$ on black. You loose. Bet 4$ on black you win.

In case you don't see the reasoning behind this method , I'll explain. Every time you win, you essentially get back on dollar. That's it . If you have a loose, loose, loose, win(doubling up each bet) after those 4 bets, you win 1 dollar.

Looking at it closer:

say you have 7$ in your pocket, take it out and bet 1$ on red . You loose, bet 2$ on red, loose again(you have bet 3 $ in total now) double your bet as usual, bet 4$on red(7$ bet in total now) you win. You get back 8$ , so in total you won just 1$. so if you have a huge loosing streak, and one win at the end, in all you just won 1$.

Now bear in mind you can change your 1$ bet to a 10cent bet, or whatever the minimum bet is.

But there are two ways in which this system will help you loose all your money.

1) You don't have infinite money. No one does. And eventually (and inevitably if you play for long enough) you will have a huge loosing streak, and you'll have to bet a hell of a lot of money to win back your initial 1$bet(1$is the example I'm sticking with here)
Think about it. Its common enough to have 6 or 7 or 8 looses in a row, that means to win your 1$ you'll have to bet 128$, loose again, your gonna have to bet 256.. 512.. 1024... 2048...!!!! It builds up faster and more frequently than you might imagine

2The maximum bet. This will screw with the system.

Basically Don't try this. But you can be lucky like me and have limited luck, and stop when your ahead which i managed to do, but I know that's one of the hardest things to do.

Optimization

Well technically it is not optimization. It has no real effect, but it feels like it does or should. Say you get 200 blacks in a row. You think okay, the chances of me getting a red are really high now..! Actually this is false , called gamblers fallacy. The expectancy of a red is high but the probability does not change. You have the same chance of getting a red as a black. It never changes. Ever . Unless your wheel is biased or something.

But if you believe in this false effect you could play the martingale strategy more “wisely” as in wait til there is a few of the same color in a row, then bet on the alternate color.

In summary, roulette is fun but not when you loose, which will happen at some stage, so bear that in mind. And don't forget, gambling is a sin! Thanks for reading folks!

Guide to Buying 2nd Hand Goods

So we all want to buy the latest things, gadgets, cars, furniture... but unfortunately not everyone has the money for these luxurious items and especially in a recession people don't have the cash to splash. My vice happens to be gadgets, mainly phones, laptops, games consoles and mp3 players. If I was to buy first hand from a shop, everything I have bought in the past few years, I would be in serious debt. It's not even funny! Well Thankfully I found a medicine to sooth the financial effects of my cravings, and I'm sure this advice will help many of you out there!

Buying second hand items will save you a lot of money, especially if your like me and love electronics. Well not only do they have a website and a magazine, they have absolutely everything! Cars, pets, gym equipment, clothes, freebies, electronics the list goes on. Also in Ireland we have some websites which help us save money, Adverts and Gumtree. The former being a forum based buying and selling site, the latter is similar to
Craigslist which appears to be well known and popular in America.

In case you don't know what I'm talking about, basically people want to sell things, so they advertise them on these websites along with a description (and if they are nice , a photo!) and also some sort of contact information. As the goods are second hand(occasionally brand new, unwanted gifts for example), the price will be lower compared to the shops selling them brand new, and everyone loves a good bargain!

But be cautious, because there are some chancers out there who will try to sell you any old garbage just to make a quick buck. And you wont have any come back - after all you just bought it off a stranger, not a reputable shop. I have some pointers as to what to watch out for from my own experience purchasing items this way.

-be sure your getting a good price. For heavens sake don't pay over the RRP(recommended retail price).
-meet in a public place
-make sure its the item you want, cause "Tixy taxy no swap backsy!" is the normal arrangement.
-If its in bad condition below your expected standards, don't buy it! Or you will regret it, trust me.
-If its something like a laptop of phone, inspect it, hake sure the camera works, keys work, screen okay etc.
-Beware of stolen goods out there, ask the seller if they have a receipt, or reason for sale, usually your intuition will tell you if the person is trustworthy and genuine, or if they are a bit dodgy and should be avoided.
-This one isn't really 'advice' it's just how i operate. I try to buy things that have either been unopened and are brand new, or else have been used for a short time only. I hate having someone else's scratches on my gadgets! GRRRRRR!

I have been having a great time buying things second hand, especially in the last two years. I
recently got an iphone 3g for a great price, it was literally brand new. I mean no scratches, not even turned on before , and as most people know, iphone normally means an expensive contract, or else very expensive price for a sim free version. All i needed to do was unlock it and shazam. Also this netbook I'm using , bought 6 months old, it is in pristine condition and also, for a great price. But I have had one or two bad experiences... but you gotta take the good with the bad i guess.

In conclusion, think about buying goods second hand, if its not for you , that's fair enough, but if you really want to save a nice bit of money, give it a go, just keep my advice in mind and also use your common sense :-) Also in some upcoming posts, I'll let you in on some secrets on buying things, adding extra functionality, sprucing them up, and make a tidy profit on it. Thanks for reading , and don't forget to add me on bebo, facebook, twitter and whatever else! Keep in contact, leave a comment, and don't do drugs.

Hello World

Well I started this blog because its information and topics I'm interested in and I actually practice most of what i preach when it comes to the money saving and earning tips on this blog. I'm passionate about it, and just recently the thought occurred to me , why not make a blog about this, help people along with their money, and try to make the best of what they have. I have many many ideas for topics on this blog, some I'm sure are mentioned else where, but others are my original ideas, and they work because I'm doing them right now!

This isn't a get rich in 2hrs site, its honest, and simple ways and realistic ways which you can save your cash on everyday spending and also some articles will describe how to make some extra money.

I've done a lot of thinking about the url of this site... very hard to know what to do, whether to get keywords into the url like cash money save free advice ... but pretty much all of them seem to be taken up. Then what about www.everylittlehelps.com or www.fromragstoriches.com. Well lucky me, they are also taken! So finally my brain is becoming fried. It has been a close call between www.fromragstoslightlybetterrags.com , www.piggybankfood.com and www.ComfyMoney.com . Well I decided to go for the latter because it seems quite easy to remember, easy to spell, and I don't think there are similar sounding websites (probably gonna be proved wrong on that one! ).

This blog is reasonably serious but i plan to keep it entertaining and some humor peppered throughout, but at the same time not taking away from the important topic that is our money and how to make the most of it!

As I will mention quite a lot, please subscribe, leave comments, or email me at . I really appreciate your help in building this site, can't do it without you! Thank you for reading.. and please enjoy your stay!
making and saving money!

Thanks for reading..!
